With our wide open spaces you can see for miles, and experience the history and spot the wildlife. Imagine seeing the night sky lit up with stars with no light pollution!

The Witcher Ranch is a spectacular 18,000+ acre wildlife and cattle ranch. We are a cow/calf working cattle ranch with around 350 head. You can be as involved as you like. With over 15,000 acres you will definitely find something to see and do. We have 8 miles of the Cimarron River through the property, which, although it doesn’t run all the time supports an abundance of wildlife.

Not only does the ranch have a lot of history the area itself is teeming with it. The Santa Fe Trail, which was once the main commercial route from Franklin, Missouri in the East, to Santa Fe, New Mexico in the West between 1821 and 1870, runs through the ranch. The ‘Cimarron Cutoff’, was the quickest and most dangerous route and was known as “La Jornada de Muerte”,

‘The Journey of Death’. There is a marker, placed there by The Daughters of the American Revolution in 1909 which shows the route the trail took. Wagon ruts are still visible in various parts of the ranch, so add the abundance of history to an amazing place with droves of wildlife and you have the makings of a great adventure. Horseback Riding

Take a Horseback ride on one of our Tennessee Walkers or Quarter Horse, along the historic Santa Fe Trail, which cuts through our ranch, and have your picture taken next to one of the Santa Fe Trail markers left there in 1909 by the Daughters of the Revolution to mark the trail. Or enjoy a ride through the river with your camera at the ready when you see all the wildlife living there. If you desire, you can help us out with our ranch activities. Help moving cattle, branding at certain times of the year, checking fences and windmills, etc.

Fishing

Maybe fishing is more your style. We have 2 ponds which are stocked year round so try your hand catching, bass, perch or catfish. Or just take a good book and relax at the ponds topping up your tan. If no-one if fishing take a dip in the ponds to cool down. Practice your shooting skills at our 10 station sporting clay course. Designed to test your ability for shooting wild quail, so if you are up for a challenge we’ve got it.

Hiking

If Hiking is your forte there are over 18,000 acres for you to explore, and lots of wildlife and birds to see along your way.For those keen Golfers, there is a very nice 9 hole golf course about 35 minutes away which we can organize a T time for you and shuttle you there and back. Just let us know if advance so we can arrange it. If you and your family just want to relax and enjoy some time together you can chill out on the deck, read, play pool or cards or take a dip in the hot tub.

Our lodge is the height of comfort and style. It is our vision for this to be your home away from home. Our aim is to make you feel as relaxed as possible and our staff will ensure you have all you need. We only have 6 bedrooms which means you will be assured privacy and relaxation.
